CIGT Sprint Mugello | 24-26 July 2026

Imperiale Racing wraps up a weekend of growth and confirmation at Mugello in the Italian GT Sprint Championship

The third round of the Italian Gran Turismo Sprint Championship, held at the Mugello Circuit during the last weekend before the summer break, from July 24th to 26th, confirmed the growth of Imperiale Racing and the crew formed by Phillippe Denes and Lautaro de la Iglesia.

Despite a weekend made challenging by qualifying, the team once again demonstrated competitiveness, consistency and excellent race pace, achieving results that confirm the direction taken in the development of the Huracán GT3 EVO2 #85.

Qualifying affected by red flags

Both qualifying sessions were heavily affected by red flags, which interrupted the work of Denes and de la Iglesia at the decisive moment of their flying laps.

This prevented both drivers from showing the true potential of the car over a single lap, forcing them to start from the back of the grid despite the positive pace shown from the very first sessions of the weekend.

Two recovery drives and consistently strong race pace

Confidence in the car’s performance and the work carried out together with the engineers were confirmed in the races.

Starting from 18th on the grid in Race 1, the crew produced an outstanding recovery drive to finish eighth, gaining ten positions thanks to consistent pace and flawless race management.

Race 2 also confirmed the competitiveness of the Huracán GT3 EVO2 #85. Despite receiving a penalty during the driver change, Denes and de la Iglesia successfully defended the sixth position achieved in qualifying, holding it until the chequered flag on a circuit where overtaking opportunities are traditionally very limited.

A weekend that confirms the team’s work

Mugello proved to be a weekend full of positive indications for Imperiale Racing.

Race pace once again proved to be one of the strengths of the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 #85, while the work carried out by the team allowed valuable data to be collected and further consolidated the growth shown throughout the season.

The performances delivered in both races confirmed the competitiveness of the team and provide a solid foundation for approaching the second half of the championship with confidence.

Next stop: Imola after the summer break

Following the third round of the Italian Gran Turismo Sprint Championship, Imperiale Racing will return to the track from September 4th to 6th at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola for the next round of the Italian Gran Turismo Endurance Championship, ready to continue the work carried out so far and confirm the progress achieved during the first part of the season.
