Imperiale Racing at Hockenheim continues its commitment in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Sprint Cup
17.05.2024 – Imperiale Racing is ready for the weekend in Hockenheim, where the third round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Sprint Cup will be taking place.
The Mirandola-based team will line up a Lamborghini Huracàn GT3 EVO2 entrusted to Ugo de Wilde (BEL) and Dmitry Gvazava (KGZ), who will compete in the Bronze category. De Wilde is fresh from his debut, with a class podium, at the 24 Hours of Spa, while Gvazava last weekend scored his first podium of the season for Imperiale Racing in the AM class in the Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo Endurance.
The two had made a sensational start to the season at Misano, when both qualifying two and race two were staged at night. After showing great speed right from free practice, the #85 Lamborghini crew had managed to claim the third position in the Bronze category on the starting grid in race one and race two. The first race at the Romagna circuit had seen De Wilde and Gvazava finish second in class, while after a long battle, race two saw them finish third in class. The double podium had allowed the crew and the team to get the season off to the best possible start, so much so that they now hold second place in the Bronze Cup championship, just half a point behind first place.
The Hockenheim circuit is 4,574 metres long and has hosted 37 editions of the Formula 1 German Grand Prix and 22 of the MotoGP German Grand Prix. The track is characterised by several strong braking sections alternating with fast corners. Particularly significant are the braking into the Einfahrt Parabolika and the hairpin, the Spitzkehre. The fast Mobil 1 Kurve leads to a section that is much narrower than the rest of the circuit, leading to the Sachskurve hairpin and then the finishing straight.
Elena Pignatti (Team Owner):
“We arrive at the weekend of Hockenheim after the splendid start to the season at Misano, where we managed to conquer two beautiful podiums that pushed us up to second place in the championship after the first round. This can only give us confidence ahead of the two races in Hockenheim: we know how fast De Wilde and Gvazava are and how the whole team is ready to support them in a weekend that promises to be very fierce. We are all ready to give our best!’.
