Imperiale Racing comes to Imola to resume the Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo Endurance by updating the crew

04.09.2024 – Imperiale Racing is ready to return to the Imola circuit for the Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo Endurance again after an almost two-month long summer break.

The Mirandola-based team will field two Lamborghini Huracàn GT3 EVO2 at the start. The #85, PRO category, will be entrusted to Kevin Gilardoni (CH), Alessio Deledda (IT) and Ugo de Wilde (BEL), who two weekends ago put the summer aside by competing for Imperiale Racing at Magny Cours in the Fanatec GT WorldChallenge Powered by AWS Sprint Cup: from the Imola race he will replace Robin Rogalski for the remaining season’s events. The #54 Lamborghini will be at the start in the AM class and will be driven by Giuseppe Fascicolo (IT), Alexander Bowen (BLZ) and DmitryGvazava (KGZ), who has already returned to the track driving for Imperiale at Magny Cours alongside De Wlde.

The season of the #85 Lamborghini saw the drivers gradually adapt to the car. After finishing sixth in the PRO-AM class at the opening round at Vallelunga, the second race of the season had taken them to Mugello. It was there that the #85 drivers built up a race with an extremely consistent pace, allowing them to recover one position during the race and finish fifth. The final race of the season also represented a great result for the #54 Lamborghini: while Vallelunga had seen them finish fourth in class just a heartbeat away from the podium, Mugello saw the crew also fight for victory in the AM class before finishing third. The three drivers thus took their first podium finish of the season.

With its 4,909 metres, the Autodromo Enzo and Dino Ferrari of Imola represents one of the Italian facilities with the most history behind it. Inaugurated in 1953 and built on the banks of the Santerno river, it hosted the Italian Grand Prix in 1980 and the San Marino Grand Prix from 1981 to 2006. Formula 1 returned to Imola in 2020 and the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix is still run at Imola. The track is characterised by mostly fast corners and a strip of tarmac that is not particularly wide, two features that make overtaking complicated. Last year the Imola track was not part of the Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo Endurance.

Elena Pignatti (Team Owner):
“We are excited about the idea of resuming our season in the Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo Endurance. At Imola there will be a change in the crew of our #85 Lamborghini: we would like to thank Robin Rogalski for his commitment in the first two championship races and welcome Ugo de Wilde in his debut in the top Italian series dedicated to GT cars. The podium finish by the #54 Lambo in the last round of the series at Mugello was a great boost for us, and now we’re really looking forward to the first green light!’.
