Imperiale Racing goes to Monza to close the Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo Endurance

23.10.2024 – It will be the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza to host Imperiale Racing in the last weekend of the Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo Endurance.

The Mirandola-based team will field two Lamborghini Huracàn GT3 EVO2 at the start. The #85, in the PRO category, will be entrusted to Kevin Gilardoni (CH), Alessio Deledda (IT) and Ugo de Wilde (BEL), who two weekends ago wrapped up the Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS Sprint Cup together with Imperiale Racing at the Barcelona circuit. The #54 Lamborghini will be at the start in the AM class and will be driven by Giuseppe Fascicolo (IT), Alexander Bowen (BLZ) and Dmitry Gvazava (KGZ), who was also involved with de Wilde in Barcelona.

In the only race of the season run together, Gilardoni, Deledda and de Wilde faced severe weather that compromised their performance. The bad weather forced Race Direction to call out the red flag after 104 of the scheduled 180 minutes of racing. This compromised the comeback that the three drivers were trying to stage and caused them to finish outside the points. Fascicolo and Bowen are still in contention for the championship win in the AM class. Gvazava is edged out of this battle after missing the opening round at Vallelunga, but the 34 points still to be awarded at Monza mean that the two drivers can still hope for overall success: they have 26.5 points to make up at the top, but the points-scoring game could go in their favour.

The Autodromo Nazionale di Monza is one of the fastest tracks in the world. With its 5,793 metres, the Temple of Speed offers a mixture of hard braking and corners to be taken with great precision, so as not to lose speed, which becomes invaluable in the long straights. The longest is the start/finish straight, which leads into the Prima Variante braking. After the right-hand turn of Curva Grande, the drivers tackle the Variante della Roggia braking to tackle the section of the two fast Lesmo corners. Once past Serraglio, the triple bend of Variante Ascari awaits the cars to take them to the Parabolica braking, the last corner of the lap. The latest works undergone by the circuit have accentuated the slope of this corner, guaranteeing a higher speed. Compared to last year, the carriageway at Prima Variante has been widened.

Elena Pignatti (Team Owner):
“The appointment will be a tough challenge: we are still in the running for the victory in the Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo Endurance in the AM class and we will try in every way to overturn this classification: it is to our advantage that Fascicolo raced with us just at Monza three weeks ago, in the Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo Sprint. After the difficult race at Imola, where the bad weather affected us heavily, we will arrive at Monza determined to show our pace, working right from the start on the set-up so that we are ready for qualifying and the race!”.
